  Do you know ‘ALBANIA’?

 ―― Friendship Time ---
Republic of Albania is a country in South Eastern Europe.
It is bordered by Greece, Montenegro and Serbia. The area is 1.5 times the size of
Shikoku Island (an island in Japan) Ms. Kledia will introduce her country to us and will be showing us some pictures.
Date: Saturday, September 11th
Time: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Place: Kashiwa Chuo-Kominkan (Central Public Hall) Meeting room No.1
Lecturer: Ms. Dodbiba Kledia
Fee: KIRA member -100 yen , Non-KIRA member - 300 yen

  Don’t you want know how the Japanese student delegations spent
                         their time in America and Australia?

Our students visited Guam (America) in March, Torrance (America) and
Camden (Australia ) in August. They homestayed in each sister city and experienced a lot of things there. They will report what happened, what they did, and how they felt there.

Time: 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (doors open at 1:45 p.m.)
Place: Amuser Kashiwa Plaza
Fee: free of charge

  Why Don’t You Try ‘Dyeing’

Date: Tuesday , September 21st
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Contents: We’ll dye a scarf your favorite color.
       We will use dye made from natural trees and weeds.
       You can enjoy typical Japanese colors.
Fee: 500 yen
You will need to bring an apron and a dish towel
Registration: Call KIRA office by Tuesday, September 14th.


  Let’s Join ☆ KIRA FESTIVAL. ☆ .

Date: Saturday, September 25th
Time: 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Place; Kashiwa Dai-ichi elementary school gym


  DoJoin Us! Sayonara (Farewell ) Party to Camden students

After 10 days stay in Kashiwa, 15 Camden students and 2 leaders from Australia will leave Kashiwa on October 3rd. We’ll have a Sayonara Party. Let’s enjoy Australian folk dance (Bush dance) or Kashiwa dance and so on together.
Date: Friday, October 1st
Time: 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Place: Shonan Public Hall 2nd floor
Fee: Adults: 800 yen Students: 500 yen
   (Light meals and drinks will be served.)
Registration: Call or fax to KIRA office by Saturday, September 18th.


  All Chinese People are welcome to join us!

We’ll have a Chinese party. Let’s enjoy and have a good time together.
Date: Sunday, October 17th
Time: 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Place: Kashiwa Chuo-Kominkan (Central Public Hall) 4th floor Cooking room
Just come to the Kominkan. You don’t have to register.
Fee: free of charge.

Please pay 2000 yen for this year’s membership fee.
There are 2ways you can choose to pay.
①A payment slip will be enclosed with a May KIRA letter.
  Complete the payment indicated on the slip at a nearby post office.
②Come and pay the fee at KIRA office.

  Kashiwa City opened 'Kashiwanoha International Exchange Lounge' 

The Kashiwanoha International Exchange Lounge for foreign residents was opened on June 2nd , 2008. It is a Kashiwa city project managed by KIRA. The lounge is on the 1st floor of ichibangai in the Park City Kashiwanoha Building near the east exit of Tsukuba Express Kashiwanoha Campus Station (map

You can get expert guidance and information about living and working in Kashiwa, and consult about any problems. There will be foreign exchange events to bring the community together and promote KIRA's mission of helping Kashiwa's dynamic international community.

The lounge is open everyday except Wednesdays and Sundays. Hours are 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. It is also closed on national holidays. Lounge telephone: 04-7134-3321.

 

 Network Newletter for Foreign Residents  ( ねっとわーく通信 )

The Foreign Resident Network, the popular information network for foreigners in Kashiwa, has issued No. 5 and No. 6 newsletters in Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean and Spanish.

Registration for translation and interpretation volunteers

We thank you very much for your sincere support of KIRA's activities and we appreciate your help in translating and interpreting your mother languages to Japanese and vice versa.

Since KIRA began building a foreign resident network two years ago, the number and importance of translation and interpretation projects has increased dramatically.

Get Your Free City Residents Manual Today

For those who are registered or about to be, City Hall would like to give you a manual (in several languages) on living in the city, a disaster prevention handbook, information on how to dispose of waste, and a complete set of brochures to make your life in Kashiwa easier. Get it at the Citizen Section of City Hall (building 2, 1st Floor).
