Commissioned Projects From Kashiwa City
 
Commissioned Project from the city in the 2009 fiscal year is the Foreign Residents Network Project which started in the 2005 fiscal year.    
Foreign Residents Network


The Foreign Residents Network Committee was organized in the 2005 f.y. to do the commissioned project from Kashiwa City. Project objectives are to establish a network between foreign residents and public bodies to exchange information in case of an emergency, and to exchange other relevant information. 15 members are acting for the committee in the current year.

The following will be accomplished in the 2009 fiscal year (from April, 2009 through March, 2010)

(1) To hold 2 times of Exchange Meeting of foreign residents and once of Chinese residents. Japanese will be welcomed to the meetings to promote friendly relations between foreign and Japanese residents.
(2) To dispatch KIRA foreign members as panelists to the Cross-Cultural Understanding Lecture Meeting for Japanese citizens. The meeting will be held 2times by Kashiwa city administration to deepen mutual understanding between foreign residents and Japanese residents.
(3) To encourage foreign residents to register “Multi-Language Mail Magazine Service via cell-phone”. Information from Kashiwa City will be distributed through it to the person who has registered.

(2) The Earthquake Handbook, Disaster Map, Living Guide, etc. are available at City Hall, the Kashiwa Information Center, Kashiwanoha International Exchange Lounge and KIRA office.

Projects in 2008 f.y.

(1) 2 times of Exchange Meeting of foreign residents and once of Chinese residents were held.
(2) Foreign residents visited to the Disaster Prevention Center in Matsudo city.
(3) Disaster prevention procedures and emergency goods were displayed at the KIRA festival site.
(4) Cross-Cultural Understanding Lecture Meeting was held two times and foreign panelists exchanged views with Japanese audiences on the daily life in Kashiwa city
(5) “Network Newsletter” with articles about events, plans, etc. of the activities of the committee was published 2 times in 6 languages..

Projects in 2007 f.y.

(1) Held Exchange Meetings of foreign residents and Chinese residents.
(2) Participation of foreign residents to the disaster preparedness drill sponsored by Kashiwa City to took part in the drill with local residents.
(3) Held an exchange meeting of foreign and Japanese residents to deepen mutual understanding on daily life style, customs, habits etc. after a survey on concern for the disaster preparedness of foreign residents in the Toyosikidai-danchi area.
(4) Held Multi-Cultural Understanding Lecture Meeting 3 times, cooperating with the city administration
(5) Published Network Newsletter 2times.
(6) Ground work by Members of the committee and the city office to the organizations similar to KIRA in other two cities to exchange information on disaster preparedness for foreign residents.

Projects in 2006 f.y.

(1) Held Exchange Meetings 6 times and published Newsletter 3 times.
(2) Ground work to international relations associations in other cities.
(3) Participation of foreign residents to the disaster preparedness drill sponsored by Kashiwa City.
(4) Cooperation with the city administration on the Multi-Cultural Understanding Lecture Meeting.

Projects in 2005 f.y.

(1) Distribution, collection, and summary of questionnaires related to disaster preparedness
(2) Published "Handbook for Protection from Earthquakes" in 6 languages
(3) Made Guide Panel used at evacuation shelter to convey messages and critical information, in 6 languages
(4) Held Exchange Meetings of foreign residents to promote networking
(5) Held an exhibition for disaster preparedness
