■ Strong earthquakes in the past, such as the Hanshin-Awaji earthquake and Niigata Chuetsu earthquake, remind us that we need to be prepared for a major disaster that could strike at any time.
During those two earthquakes, foreign victims were unable to get sufficient information, care, and support due to language and custom barriers.
This handbook aims to educate foreign residents on earthquake preparedness in Japan. It is available in 6 languages in book form as well as on the web at the city and KIRA websites.
